list of Bollywood movies which got leaked in 2016

Not long ago, Abhisekh Chaubey’s ‘Udta Punjab’, the controversial drug-themed Bollywood film, was leaked online showcasing how easily films can be leaked even from right under the Censor Board’s nose. Piracy has become more of a problem in the past decade than it ever has before, specifically movie piracy.
It is estimated that the Indian Film Industry is losing upto $180 million per year due to video piracy. Due to which about 1,000 cinema halls out of 13,000 have been shut down, as people prefer to watch pirated movies which are considerably cheap and readily available at railway stations, markets, etc.
Here are few much anticipated Bollywood movies which were leaked someway or the other before their release dates.

  1. Great Grand Masti (2016)
Great Grand Masti, the third part of the Masti adult-comedy franchise — scheduled for release on July 22 — was leaked online on Monday. The complete film of two hours and 14 minutes in a high-definition print along with full credit titles can be seen online.The movie has been leaked a good three weeks before it’s scheduled release date and will definitely suffer in terms of box office collection as a chunk of it’s viewers being young post-pubescent males may have already accessed and watched it on their computers.
2. Sultan (2016)
The much anticipated Salman Khan starrer Sultan had been this year’s Eid release, expected to triumph over all box-office collections. But, it was reported and later confirmed by cyber crime experts that the movie has been leaked online a day before its release. Many websites have been blocked for hosting Sultan since Tuesday evening and the links are being removed immediately after uploads. This Yash Raj Films production was predicted to make an easy 150 crore rupees as its opening week collection, so let’s see if Bhaijaan is able to rule over video piracy as easily as he rules over Bollywood.
3. Udta Punjab (2016)
The Abhishek Chaubey directorial had already been in news for it’s skirmish with the Censor Board. It was took the issue to the Mumbai High Court which released it with only one cut as opposed to the 89 cuts suggested by the CFBC. But alas, that were not the last of the movie’s problems, it was leaked online two days before its precedented release. the Bollywood fraternity came together to stand against piracy, encouraging audience to watch it only in theaters and got the #PiracyDiMaaDi trending on twitter.
4. Mohalla Assi (2015)
The Chandraprakash Dwivedi directorial and Sunny Deol starrer had also been in tussle with the censor board over the abusive language content used in the movie. On 30 June 2015, the release of Mohalla Assi was stayed by a Delhi court for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Prior to its release Mohalla Assi leaked online on 11 August 2015. The film has been banned by the CBFC on 8th April 2016.
5. Manjhi (2015)
Manjhi – The Mountain Man is a 2015 Indian biographical film, based on the life of Dashrath Manjhi. Manjhi, widely known as the “Mountain Man”, was a poor labourer in Gehlaur village, near Gaya in Bihar, India, who carved a path 9.1 metres (30 ft) wide and 110 metres (360 ft) long through a hill 7.6 metres (25 ft) using only a hammer and chisel. Prior to its release preview copy of movie leaked on web on 10 August 2015.T he Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) cyber police station had registered a case against a few unknown persons for leaking the movie.
